Come out and race on in support of groundbreaking research into gynecological cancers!
The Dominique Dagenais Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer raises funds for the DOvEEgene Research Program, which, under the leadership of MUHC gynecological oncologist Dr. Lucy Gilbert, has developed a revolutionary genomic PAP test that can detect ovarian and endometrial cancers as early as stage 1.
Held in the streets of TMR, the event brings together families, friends, hospital employees, cancer patients, and cancer survivors, who participate in a 2km run/walk, a timed 5km run/walk, or a timed 10km run.
This year, the Cedars Run for Ovarian Cancer will celebrate its 10th anniversary and honour its founder and inspiration, Dominique Dagenais, who passed away in March 2025.
Dominique was a devoted mother, wife and sister. Until her diagnosis in 2015, she was also a passionate long-distance runner and athlete. Despite her health challenges, Dominique channeled her strength, resilience and dedication into action. Alongside her husband, Stephen, and their son, Maxime, she established the Dagenais Joly Smith Fund, which has raised more than $1.2 million for the DOvEEgene Research Program.
Cedars will remember Dominique for her unwavering determination to eradicate ovarian cancer and save women from this silent killer. Her passion and commitment were a reminder of the power of hope and action, and her legacy will continue to guide and inspire us in our philanthropic endeavours.
