About Sarah’s Fund for Cedars & Sarah’s Floor

In 2000, Sarah Cook was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer. At only eight years old, she was thrust into a world far too many children know and underwent a year of radiation and chemotherapy at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. While undergoing treatment, Sarah decided she would do everything she could to make a sick child’s time at the Children’s as warm, comfortable, and positive as possible. With that in mind, Sarah and her parents founded Sarah’s Fund for Cedars. Now in her thirties and thriving, Sarah remains an inspiration to many children, teens and young adults who are going through a similar journey.

Sarah’s Fund for Cedars supports the Hematology-Oncology Division at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Our mission is to improve the care and quality of life of young cancer patients and their families, and we aim to make a meaningful difference in the life of each child and teenager touched by cancer at the Montreal Children’s Hospital at the MUHC. Since 2001, thanks to the enthusiastic giving of our Montreal community corporations and through special events like Stroll & Dash, Sarah’s Fund for Cedars has raised over Sarah’s Fund has raised almost $15 million, which has allowed for state-of-the-art upgrades to treatment rooms, research and education labs; for the implementation of progressive psychosocial programs; and for child-life services.
